If you’re anything like us this time of year you’ll have been eyeing up the port and cheese offers, tucking into advent calendar chocolates, battling to get the Christmas tree, fairy lights and Christmas jumper bunting to look right and the Christmas excitement (and gift ideas for him/her/difficult relatives blog reading) is building daily!
We know that Christmas is bad news for the planet, we consume more, from turkeys to trees, cards to wrapping paper and we don’t want to kill the festive spirit, we just thought we’d give you some tips on minimising your environmental impact by making a few greener choices this Christmas, choices that don’t involve turning off all the Christmas lights!
With the opening of each advent calendar window we’re getting ever closer to the big day, it’s all very exciting. Here are our ultimate tips for keeping it green this Christmas.
There are many options from fair trade Christmas trees and organic, locally sourced trees, consider where yours is from. Visit eco friendly tree ideas for more unusual tree design ideas.
When it comes to decorating your tree, if you’re buying decorations consider the materials that the decorations are made from, will they be used yearly? Will they biodegrade when you’ve finished with them? We made some fabulous wooden tree decorations from reindeer to rocking horses with red and pink ribbon and can personalise decorations and gifts with text and images of your choice.
You can also create less waste by baking your own decorations.
Consider buying local and sustainable food for your Christmas dinner and make sure you don’t waste your leftovers.
